SC - Atlantic Beach fires its entire police department
On Wednesday, the Atlantic Beach Interim Town
Manager Benny Webb fired the
entire police force. The move came just a day after the town council
replaced two judges and the town attorney.
Town leaders said the goal is to scale back financially and then see
where the town stands.
On Wednesday morning former Atlantic Beach Police Chief Eric Lewis and his two officers were told their services were no longer needed.
"Atlantic Beach has done an excellent job of changing the image of the town and our department became a part of the community" said Lewis.
The new interim town manager and the new mayor pro-tem said it was time to move the town in a new direction.
"The firings were nothing personal, no vendetta, no scores to settle" said Carolyn Cole.
