IL - CPD out of bounds
Police entered Kirkwood's home on June 7 in search of evidence that Kirkwood recorded a conversation he had with former Mayor Brad Cole about a liquor license for Kirkwood's restaurant, Ice Box Bar & Grill. Recording a conversation without all-party permission is a Class 1 felony in Illinois.
The police investigation, which continues, was sparked by comments attributed to Kirkwood in The Daily Egyptian, Southern Illinois University Carbondale's student newspaper.
Kirkwood has since said he did not record the conversation, though he declined comment Tuesday after his Class A1 liquor license was renewed by the city's local liquor commission.
While Kirkwood was not talking, Adams was during her public comments during the city council meeting.
"Our police and the judge who gave them a search warrant overstepped the bounds of reasonable behavior," Adams said.

What does this "law" acomplish? Does it apply [say] to someone who simply wears a "wire" and records 24/7? What lobby doesn't want to be audited and accountable? This law is total Building Seven.
