Stanley Cup Riots in Vancouver BC



Rioters burn police cars after the Vancouver Canucks were defeated by the Boston Bruins in the NHL's Stanley Cup Final in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Wednesday June 15, 2011. Angry, drunken revelers ran wild Wednesday night after the Vancouver Canucks' 4-0 loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, setting cars and garbage cans ablaze, smashing windows, showering giant TV screens with beer bottles and dancing atop overturned vehicles.

    I can't undersatnd why sports fans act like idiots when their team loses a championship in canada or any other country. After all it is just a game. If people would get that involved with social issues with this much anthusiasm we could make alot of good changes but that doen,t mean burning and distoying property. I'm sure alcohol had alot to do withit. A good reason to legalize weed,the fans would have been alot more mellow and probably would have showed better sportsmanship. This out burst is a good reason to not serve alcohol at sporting events!
