Thousands Protest Police Brutality in Georgia

Demonstrators gathered in the Georgian capital Saturday to protest police violence while breaking up a rally earlier in the week.

More than 3,000 people marched toward the parliament building in the center of Tbilisi but this time the protest ended peacefully.

Nearly 40 people were injured, and officials said two people were struck and killed by cars carrying protest leaders away from the area. Authorities broke up the anti-government protest and arrested 90 people just hours before an Independence Day military parade, which went on as scheduled.
