PDs packing more street-savvy firearms

The Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg Police Departments are among the nation’s PDs allowing officers to carry personally-owned firearms on duty, and rifles on patrol.Officials say it’s a street-smart move to not be out-gunned, and departments keep a tight grip on back-up weapon regulations in terms of screening firearms allowed as well as officer training and competency levels for using them.

Last week, Pittsburg officials approved updates to their policies which include new firearms regulations that authorize officers to carry personally-owned rifles in addition to their primary duty department-issued weapon on duty. The regulations set out specific requirements for the rifles and mandate that officers complete a recognized patrol rifle training course prior to carrying a patrol rifle – all in compliance with the department’s long-term goal of achieving a “Recognized” status from the Texas Police Chief Association (TPCA), according to Police Chief Richard Penn.

“It’s a move by the department to bring us in line with the best police practices, as we hope to achieve that “Recognized” status in the future,” Penn told the Tribune.

It would be OK if they were facing a real threat that wasn't made up of people who are HUNGRY!

911 was a USA/ISRAELI operation to control you and they are doing great!

Wait till your home is taken and you are left to beg for scraps and then the police carrying rifles will not be a good idea!

The good idea is to stop paying your UNDERWATER home loan and instead buying an AR15 and 1000 rounds of ammo and getting ready for the coming shit storm, and hopefully allot of American GI's will join YOU!

Yep! Take a look at Gaza. How about TSA soon to be in subways and bus stations. It's a gradual process but the goal is the same...disarm and control.

One of the posters suggested that we should purchase AR15 rifles which is a complicated weapon. They are expensive, difficult to clean and maintain while using an undersize bullet. I would suggest buying an inexpensive (1/3 cost) AK47 which is simple, doesn't have to be cleaned constantly, and has a powerful .308 round. I recently saw an AK47 on the TV show, "Sons of Guns" buried in mud, the operator simply chambered a round and fired it continuously without failure. This expert said not to try this using an AR15 type. Nine year olds in Africa have no problem using this weapon. My son, who had never touched a firearm in his life was able to expertly load and fire this weapon at a rage. Most kids are familiar with these weapons from playing video games like, Call of Duty, Black Ops and they can lecture you on the ballistics comparison of a M16 compared to a Galil, G11, FN AL, Dragunov, Uzi, Mac 11, M60, Enfield and so on.
