OR - Medical marijuana grower featured in news series arrested on drug charges

A Central Point man featured in a Mail Tribune series about medical marijuana was arrested Thursday on drug charges after Jackson County Sheriff's deputies found that he had an expired medical marijuana card and 13.35 pounds of marijuana.

Jonah James Farris, 21, was cited and released on felony charges of manufacture, distribution and possession of marijuana, and jailed on an outstanding municipal court warrant, Sheriff's Ddepartment spokeswoman Andrea Carlson said. He has bailed out of jail.

A neighbor complained at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday of loud music and a noisy party-like atmosphere at Farris' house in the 5100 block of Gebhard Road, Carlson said.

The responding deputy found three men tending a marijuana garden inside a portable storage unit, which was a registered medical marijuana growing site not directly associated with Farris, although he was apparently helping tend it, Carlson said.
