MO - Sales tax goes up Friday
Starting Friday, shoppers in Bolivar will pay an extra 5 cents for every $20
worth of merchandise they buy. The city's new quarter-cent sales tax for
parks and recreation takes effect Oct. 1.
The new tax was approved by voters in April to fund parks and recreation
improvements in the city, including revitalization of the nine-hole golf
course that is on city property and construction of an aquatics center that
is expected to cost about $5 million.
