NY - Police Accuse Teacher of Eating Student's Lunches

Update: Auburn, NY -- Alan W. Robinson, the Auburn school teacher accused of stealing lunches charged on pupils' accounts, pleaded innocent this morning in Auburn City Court to misdemeanor charges of petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, court officials said.

An investigation by school resource officers found that Robinson would have pupils in his class use their personal identification numbers to buy a lunch, police said.

“The teacher would then have the students bring the lunch to his class for his consumption having no intention of paying anyone for the lunch,” police said.

Robinson admitted the practice under questioning and was issued an appearance ticket on Friday, Auburn Police Sgt. Greg Dann said.  District officials subsequently placed Robinson on administrative leave, Dann said.

Auburn Superintendent J.D. Pabis declined to discuss the alleged incident or to confirm whether Robinson was on leave, saying it was a personnel matter.

My Thoughts:
If this teacher is so hard up that he can't afford lunch... why aren't the parents of this class organizing a schedule to ensure the teacher of their children is well fed and feeling well enough to do his job appropriately?  Why doesn't this teacher feel comfortable enough to say something honest to his class, many students throw 1/2 their lunch away.....  Maybe I'm wrong and he's just a dick teacher, who knows.
