SC - Army Reserve engineers go to Afghanistan

About 190 U.S. Army reservists from South Carolina are heading to Wisconsin for training before being deployed to Afghanistan.

An Army spokesman said Thursday that members of the 323rd Engineer Company are volunteering for the year long deployment. The unit is based in Spartanburg.

The soldiers will remove roadside bombs, which insurgent forces in Afghanistan use to attack military units and convoys.
