VT - Ex-teacher charged again in sex case
A former teacher is in trouble, again, for his relationship with a student.
John V. Buttura Jr., 55, of Waterbury Center was arraigned Monday in Washington District Court on seven counts of violating conditions of release.
The court set the conditions last year, when Buttura was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. He was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl. He was released from custody while awaiting trial, but the court set several conditions, including a ban on any contact with the girl.
In February, Vermont State Police began investigating allegations that Buttura had violated that ban, and arrested him on Friday.
Buttura had taughttechnology at Twinfield Union School for about 10 years before he was arrested last April and charged with sexually exploiting a minor, a felony. He pleaded not guilty.
Buttura was arrested again in May, and again in August, charged with contacting the girl via the Internet.
The allegations cost Buttura his job.
