MS - Big ‘boom' rattles state

FRENCH CAMP - Residents from across the state, and parts of Louisiana, are still wondering what caused a big‘boom' Sunday afternoon that shook the ground and reportedly rattled many homes. Around 1:45 p.m., last Sunday, a short rumbling was heard followed by a loud boom. Motorists and residents from Montgomery, Carroll, Leflore, Grenada and Forrest Counties all reported what many described as a ‘small explosion.'

"We thought a car had hit the church," said Miranda Crenshaw, of Kilmichael. "Everybody kind of looked around and the ushers went outside to see what it was. One of our deputies was also in the church and he thought it was an explosion and he got in his patrol car and drove around to see if he could find it."
