RI - 3 police officers arrested on drug charges
LINCOLN — A Coventry man is the most recent suspect being tied to the drug sting that resulted in the arrest of six men, including three Providence Police officers.
Scott Lamont, 45, of 57 East Shore Dr., Coventry, was arrested for one count of soliciting another to commit a crime. Cap. David Neill, of the Rhode Island State Police said on Monday evening, at approximately 7 p.m., members of the Rhode Island State Police intelligence unit working the Operation Deception drug sting went to the Pontiac Tap, located on Pontiac Avenue in Providence, where Lamont works and arrested him.
Lamont is being charged with one count of solicitation. Neill said Lamont solicited Albert Hamlin, one of the men originally arrested in the sting, and also the brother of one of the Providence police officers arrested, to deliver cocaine to him.
Lamont was arraigned at the Rhode Island State Police barracks and released on personal recognizance.
