Murder has been charged against a man who hard originally reported that he shot an intruder.

Bryan Jeffrey Bare, 28, of Statesville Road, North Wilkesboro, was arrested and charged with murder on Monday afternoon, according to Chief Deputy Chris Shew of the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department.

Bare was charged in connection with the May 4 shooting death of Randall Clinton Call, 44, of Purlear, Shew said. Call was found dead at Bare’s home.

Shew said that Call died of multiple gunshot wounds. Det. Jason Whitley made the arrest with the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation. He said that items taken from the scene of the shooting had been analyzed at the SBI Crime Lab in Raleigh.

“We waited on the analysis to comeback and conferred with the District Attorney’s office,” Shew said.“Subsequently, Mr. Bare was charged with murder.”

Shew wouldn’t say what items had been analyzed.

According to earlier reports, the incident was reported by Bare around 8 p.m., on May 4.

“The reporting party stated that a subject had entered his residence through an unlocked front door,” said Capt.Steve Cabe of the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department. “He said he had a weapon, which Bare obtained, then shot the subject resulting in his death.”

An autopsy was requested on Call’s body and was conducted at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
