Huckstep and Williams told investigators that the restaurant's lobby doors were locked when Huckstep exited the men's room and that Huckstep used his right hand to hit Williams in the chest. Investigators received conflicting information about whether Williams punched or hit Huckstep. Deputies and Gainesville Police did not find any obvious injuries on Huckstep or Williams. Also, police noted that both Huckstep and a woman waiting for him in his car outside the restaurant appeared intoxicated and neither would likely have been allowed to drive.

During the incident, Williams dialed 911 to complain about Huckstep. During the recorded call, investigators said they could hear Huckstep in the background angrily shouting obscenities. During the recording,investigators said Huckstep could also be heard making statements apparently directed toward Williams such as "You're going to jail."

Huckstep was not responding to interview requests on Tuesday, but during the internal investigation into the incident made the following statement.

"I was disappointed in myself to be honest with you. I wish I could've changed a lot of things that went down that night and .... I guess all I'm trying to do is learn from this experience.
