Citing salary cut, Buckeye police chief resigns
PHOENIX (AP) - Buckeye Police Chief Robert Daniels has resigned after less than a year on the job.
Town officials announced Friday that Daniels' resignation iseffective March 12, but Assistant Police Chief Mark Mann already hastaken over.
Daniels began his job in April. He wrote a letter to Town Manager Stephen Cleveland saying his resignation came in part because of an across-the-board salary cut all town employees took in January.
Town staffers making more than $100,000 annually took a 15 percent pay cut in an effort to close a budget gap. The cuts for all employees varied from 5 to 15 percent, based on salary. Daniels made $141,000 a year. After a 15 percent cut, his salary was reduced to $119, 850.
