FL - Melbourne police chief bullied me

The Florida Fraternal Order of Police submitted a formal complaint to Melbourne on Friday, saying the city's police chief threatened an officer who was interviewed in a fellow officer's criminal case.Melbourne Officer Michael Schmid claims that Chief Don Carey intimidated him by saying that a statement he made to state investigators could be "very harmful to your career."

Schmid said he informally told a Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent that he thought the investigation into Officer Frank Carter was "personal." FDLE has since charged Carter.

"(Carey's) last comments -- 'Now take this as a warning and get out of my office'-- it actually struck that intimidation so far into my heart that I was in fear of even working anymore," Schmid said in a 45-minute audio recording released to reporters by the union.
