Blake Benson was one of three students arrested outside Dakota Ridge High School on Nov. 3, 2008 during a visit by the first lady to-be. Benson was holding a John 
He was held on suspicion of a misdemeanor charge of interference with school and staff. The criminal charge, which could have resulted in six months in jail and a fine, was not pursued. Benson's attorney, Daniel Recht, announced Wednesday that Benson will receive $2,000 from both Jefferson County Schools and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Recht said Benson planned to use some of the settlement money to take college courses before he enlists in the military.
