Crime Fighter Armed Only With Arsenal Of Cameras
He's helped Minneapolis police in more than 100 cases of robbery,break-ins, muggings and graffiti. He was so good at what he does, he collected about $10,000 from the city in reward money.
"Each envelope represents a case, so there are hundreds and hundreds of graffiti cases," said homeowner Jim Fiala.
Fiala has a file on just about every incident that's happened near his home in the past few years. That included surveillance video that's helped prosecutors get convictions.
"I've gotten to the point where I can tell that a person's going to do graffiti just by their demeanor," said Fiala.
Fiala had 16 cameras: 8 in the front, 8 in the back. And his block of Lyndale Avenue in Uptown has seen a lot of action.
"They'll do it right smack in front of the house even though you can clearly see there are cameras out there and they'll still do it," said Fiala.
