Security Concerns for Mt. Rushmore - From Greenpeace!
The special tours, which are not available to most visitors to Mount Rushmore, led to security concerns because the Greenpeace protesters used photos and descriptions of secure areas at the top of the mountain to plan their action, according to a park service memo.
The judgment came six months after 11 of the group's activists scaled Mount Rushmore and hung a 65-foot protest flag next to the carved face of Abraham Lincoln.

The protesters themselves are scheduled to appear in federal court Monday in Rapid City.
This week's civil complaint includes $5,000 in charges for local law enforcement and $25,000 for the National Park Service. It was filed to send a message, U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson said.
"Tourism is a huge industry in South Dakota, so whenever we have people who are defacing our landmarks or trespassing illegally, our office is going to treat that aggressively," Johnson said.
