Anyone use Suave Shampoo? It's a chemical cocktail!

Introduction

Suave Shampoo is a highly toxic hair care product. This product'sofficial name is Suave Professionals Shampoo. The parent company Unileverhad sales of 49.9 billion dollars in 2004. In the interests ofdisclosure this corporate behemoth was recently involved in a mercury scandal.

Positives?

There is nothing positiveabout this product according to the ingredient label. The SuaveProfessionals Shampoo does not meet any natural ingredient parameter.

In fact, if you were to inject this chemical cocktail into someone'sbloodstream you would be locked up. I do not say this lightly, as thereare penetration agents - PROPYLENE GLYCOL - in this product that enables it to pass into your bloodstream unhindered.

Negatives

The Suave Shampoo is quite literally a chemical soup with many of theingredients never even tested for safety according to the C.I.R. -Cosmetic Ingredient Review. The chemicals that are certified by theC.I.R have been tested on animals.

Cancer Linkage

This product contains these highly toxic ingredients, DMDM HYDANTOIN,COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE which have been linked to cancer in animal tests.

Reproductive Toxicity

This product contains one ingredient - ETHANOL - linked to reducedfertility and a reduced chance for a full term healthy pregnancy.

Penetration Enhancers

Also present are penetration enhancers: PROPYLENE GLYCOL,TETRASODIUM EDTA. These agents work to infiltrate the skin membrane -i.e. penetration enhancer - and in doing so may increase exposures tocarcinogens.

My thoughts:

As my days go on and as our family is taking the steps to gain knowledge but then also act upon that knowledge.  Most of what we "learn" today is things we've already known but CHOSE TO IGNORE because it's EASIER AND CHEAPER.  Now that we are responsible for another life we feel a duty to protect and do what WE FEEL is best for our child rather than what is EASIER.  This is not an easy feat.

We gave up flouride in our foods and toothpaste about 3 weeks ago.  It was HORRIBLE for my husband and I.  We experienced side effects that were rather scary and alarming.

Last night I thought well if flouride is bad, what do you want to bet that our shampoo is even worse.  I bought suave just recently because we're trying to conserve and high quality shampoo is not in that budget currently.

After finding this and looking on the back of our bottles - this is serious POISON sooo close to our brains and central nervous system.  Literally less than an inch separates them - THEN they add " penetration enhancers" to ensure that your pores open and chemicals insert into them.  THIS IS JUST WRONG.  How can this stuff be approved???????  The first FOUR ingrediants are AMMONIA!!!

So disgusted.... wasted $7 on this chemical crap that isn't even suitable for my DOGS!  (just kidding - it'll be dog shampoo but i'm  not happy about it)

  • Thisorganic shampoo will not produce a lot of suds, because it does notcontain foaming agents. It cleans gently with minimal suds. Organicunscented baby shampoo may be used if castile soap is unavailable. Allthe ingredients needed to make the organic shampoo can be found atnatural health stores or drugstores, or ordered online.

Revision:

Suave is made in the Unites States and states so on the bottle but their sister company is called:  UNILEVER  which is in india.  ugh.  click on their name above to see their lawsuit about mercury.
